Who is the originator of Anhui Peking Opera?
The predecessor of Beijing Opera is Hui Opera, commonly known as Pihuang Opera. Since the fifty-fifth year of Qianlong reign in Qing Dynasty (1790), the four major Huizhou tune clubs, Sanqing, Sixi, Chuntai and Chuntai, which were originally performing in the south, have successively performed in Beijing, and at the same time absorbed some plays, tunes and performances of Han tune, Qin tune and Kunqu opera, and merged and evolved into a new tune. So it is officially called "Beijing Opera". It was formed on the basis of Anhui Opera and Han Opera, and absorbed the advantages and specialties of some operas such as Kunqu Opera and Shaanxi Opera. Huizhou Opera entered Beijing in A.D. 1790 (the 55th year of Qing Qianlong). The earliest Huizhou Opera Troupe entered Beijing was the prestigious "Sanqing Class" in Anhui. Later, there were four classes in Beijing, such as "Four Happiness", "River Lip" and "Chuntai", which were collectively called "Huizhou Class Four".
