The so-called "Polaroid Classic" is a classic record released by Polaroid Records Company in its heyday.
As early as 1996, Zhejiang Audio-Visual Publishing House published a large number of Polaroid VCDs, which should be the largest one in China. At the same time, there should be no less than 100 varieties (probably conservative data, because there are too many). At that time, I found a large number of such VCDs in Beijing, Changchun and other places, which should be very popular in China. This series of VCDs are all copyrighted by China Business Department of Polaroid Far East Office and Shengwei International Co., Ltd., including Polaroid original MTV series, Polaroid original golden melody series, Polaroid superstar best-selling golden melody series, Polaroid superstar concert series and so on. , including all the singers of Polaroid at that time, a large part of them were albums, and the first-line singers all had their own albums. Most of the compilations are original MTV, while Jacky Cheung's original MTV has the largest number of solo albums, which should be no less than 8, and there are MTVs of Alan Tam, Liming, Vivian Chow, beyond and others. The original singer (not the original singer, that is, the song is sung by the original singer, the pictures are taken by others in the record company, and the singer himself is not involved in the performance) series includes Priscilla Chan, Faye Wong, Guan Shuyi, Huang Kaiqin, Hacken Lee, etc., among which Priscilla Chan's first and second series * * * four discs (even Louis Koo, who was still unknown at that time, filmed MTV for her! )。 In addition, Faye Wong and Tai Zhengxiao co-produced a set of original MTV called "999 Roses of Dida", and each of them took a disc. The concert series includes Jacky Cheung, Alan Tam, Priscilla Chan, Faye Wong and others. One feature of this series of VCDs is that they are all complete sets of two discs, that is, the same imported version number contains two discs A and B. Except for the two discs in the concert series, the other two discs A and B are boxed separately. Although the production at that time was relatively simple, the boxes used for packaging were all beautiful. Most of the single disc boxes are sky blue or rose, and the thick surface of the disc box is engraved with the three traditional characters of "Little King of Painting" and the round logo of Little King of Painting, while the double disc boxes of the concert series are all golden yellow, and the three golden characters of "Little King of Painting" and the logo of Little King of Painting are printed on the thick surface of the disc box, which is unique in VCD packaging at that time. When this series of VCDs first came into the market, the price was single disc 35 yuan/piece and double disc (concert) 60 yuan/piece. Among them, solo albums and concert series sell well. However, due to the average quality of the selected songs, most of them are Cantonese, and there are many repetitions, the sales volume in the mainland is not very good, resulting in a large inventory. 1999, this kind of disc suddenly sold well. At that time, this kind of disc could be seen in most large and small video stores in Beijing, and the lowest processing price actually reached 5 yuan/piece! It should be said that this ultra-low price is quite a surprise for disc fans. Unfortunately, it is precisely because of this lower price than piracy that many consumers who can't distinguish between authenticity and falsehood regard it as piracy. What a pity! Since 1999, this kind of disc has almost disappeared. At present, there are only a few major video stores in Beijing (such as Wangfujing Foreign Language Bookstore) and a few songs that are not sold well, and the prices are still above 30 yuan. I think this is one of the reasons why it can be preserved.
The rise and fall of Polaroid VCD series seems to be closely related to the development of record companies. After 1997, with the gradual departure and fading out of the first-line singers, the momentum of Polaroid records was greatly weakened, and finally it was acquired by Universal Records.
