Chang 'an University, directly under the Ministry of Education, is a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, a national "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" construction university and a national world-class discipline construction university. In 2000, it was formed by the merger of Xi 'an Highway Jiaotong University, Xi 'an Engineering College and Northwest Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, which was founded in the early 1950s.
The school is located in Xi 'an, a famous historical and cultural city. Weishui has two campuses, Taibai Mountain and Liangshan Mountain, with an area of 3,745 mu.
