Zhangjiakou Asian Winter Games is another major comprehensive international ice and snow competition held in China after the Beijing Winter Olympics. China has hosted two Asian Winter Games before, namely Harbin 1996 and Changchun 2007.

The Asian Winter Games was first held in 1986, and it is held every four years. All participating countries and regions are members of the OCA.
