Detailed explanation of performance characteristics of cross-linked home improvement line

Shanghai Baoyu wire & cable manufacturing co., ltd

Crosslinked home improvement wires should be called XLPE insulated wires and cables.

Cross-linked home improvement wires use chemical or physical methods to change polyethylene molecules from linear molecular structure to three-dimensional network structure, and thermoplastic polyethylene into thermosetting cross-linked polyethylene, thus improving the aging resistance, mechanical function and environmental resistance of polyethylene and adhering to excellent electrical functions.

The maximum allowable working temperature of cross-linked wires and conductors for a long time is 90 degrees Celsius, which is higher than that of paper insulated cables, PVC insulated wires and PE insulated wires. It has the advantages of light weight, simple structure, convenient use, chemical corrosion resistance and unlimited laying.

Insulation is to wrap insulation data with different thickness outside the conductor according to the requirements of its voltage tolerance, which plays the role of isolating the charged body from others. When the cable is electrified, the conductor will heat up. Therefore, the ideal thermal insulation data should have excellent thermal insulation function and excellent thermal conductivity. PVC insulating material is a kind of thermoplastic material, and its mechanical properties largely depend on the crystallization of polymer. Under the action of electricity and heat, especially when the conductor has overcurrent or short circuit fault, the temperature rise can soften and deform the inside, leading to insulation damage such as decreased insulation function. Cross-linked polyethylene insulation is a chemical or physical method to change the polyethylene molecules of cable insulation from linear molecular structure to main network molecular structure, that is, thermoplastic polyethylene into thermosetting cross-linked polyethylene, and then greatly improve its heat resistance and mechanical function, reduce its shrinkage rate, and make it not melt when heated in the future, with excellent adhesion. Therefore, cross-linked polyethylene insulation has outstanding advantages in heat resistance and mechanical properties and has become an ideal insulation material at present.

Crosslinked polyethylene insulated wire obviously improves the performance of PVC insulated wire and cable. The long-term working temperature of PVC insulated cable is only 70℃, while the long-term promised working temperature of XLPE insulated wire can reach 90℃. At the temperature of 130℃, the cross-sectional fluidity of PVC insulated wires with the same cross-section can be improved by about 25%. Therefore, in practical application, cross-linked polyethylene insulated wire with lower cross-section can replace PVC insulated wire.

The specific gravity of crosslinked polyethylene insulation material is 0.92g/cm3. The specific gravity of PVC insulation is 1.35g/cm3. Because the induction function of XLPE insulation is stronger than that of PVC insulation, according to the national standard (GB /T 12706-2002), the thickness of XLPE insulation is thinner than that of PVC insulation. Therefore, XLPE insulated wires are widely used because of their light weight, small diameter, convenient installation and simple attachment joints.

It is precisely because XLPE insulated household wires have incomparable advantages over PVC insulated cables. Its simple structure, light weight, good heat resistance, strong bearing capacity, no melting, chemical corrosion resistance, advanced and excellent mechanical strength have been widely recognized by users.
