In the 1920s, Li Bohuan, an Indonesian overseas Chinese, returned from overseas and passed through Shantou. Feeling the great development potential of Shantou, he recruited Li Yaozong and others, and built Nansheng Trading Company Building in the center of the small park, at the intersection of Anping and Guo Ping Road.
In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), Nansheng Trading Company Building was completed, with seven floors, the first elevator in Shantou Port, a department store on the first and second floors, and a central restaurant on the third and fourth floors.
