Huang Zhong is famous for killing veteran Xia when Liu Bei marched into Dingjun Mountain in Hanzhong. In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Liu Bei also honored Huang Zhong as the "Five Tiger Generals Army" of Shu, which is equally famous with Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun and Ma Chao, and also named him Hou Guanzhong.
In the novel, Huang Zhong followed Liu Bei to the State of Wu in 222 AD. Liu Bei said the veteran was useless, but Huang Zhong refused. In a battle with Pan Zhang, a general of the State of Wu, he was ambushed by Ma Zhong and was killed by an arrow. However, according to historical records, Huang Zhong died at the age of 75, just in posthumous title.

In Huangzhong Village, Yingmenkou Township, the western suburb of Chengdu, there is the tomb of the famous Huang Zhong of the Three Kingdoms.
In the fifth year of Daoguang reign in the Qing Dynasty (1825), a farmer named Ji Yashu found a tombstone engraved with the tomb of Hou Hansheng in Huanggang, several human bones, a sword and a jade, and immediately notified the landlord Liu Yuan (the grandfather of Liu, a famous scholar in the Qing Dynasty and a famous scholar in modern times, was awarded the title of Tianmen County Magistrate in Hubei Province). The word "taboo Han Sheng" on the tombstone should be "taboo loyalty".
This shows that this monument is definitely not an old thing from the Three Kingdoms period, but it was probably erected when people repaired Huang Zhong's tomb after the Tang and Song Dynasties. But it also shows that this should be the place where Huang Zhong was buried. Therefore, Liu Yuan, who is knowledgeable and famous for his hometown songs, invited rural gentry and elders to donate money to repair Huang Zhong's tomb, which is 4 meters high and about 13 meters in circumference. Pines and cypresses are planted in the cemetery.
