Article 30 of the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on the Protection of Oil and Gas Pipelines stipulates that the following acts endangering the safety of pipelines are prohibited within a geographical range of five meters on both sides of the center line of the pipeline:
(1) Planting trees, shrubs, vines, reeds, bamboos or other deep-rooted plants with roots deep into the buried part of the pipeline may damage the pipeline anticorrosion layer;
(2) Taking soil, quarrying, using fire, piling up heavy objects, discharging corrosive substances, and digging with mechanical tools;
(3) Digging ponds, repairing canals, repairing threshing floors, building farms, greenhouses, livestock sheds, building houses and other buildings and structures.
According to Article 29 of the Regulations on the Protection of Petroleum and Natural Gas, those who borrow soil, dig ponds, repair canals, build aquaculture ponds, discharge corrosive substances, pile up bulk materials, quarry, build houses, build greenhouses, build livestock sheds, build other buildings and structures or deeply plant roots shall be ordered to make corrections by the departments designated by the local people's governments at or above the county level, and individuals may be fined up to 2,000 yuan.

Protection scope of pipeline facilities:?
