American psychologist john gordon darley [Wang Yuanyuan Dali1910-1990] was born in the United States.

193 1 obtained a bachelor's degree from the American-Israeli Association University in Middletown, Connecticut, and then went to the University of Minnesota. Under the guidance of tutor D.G. Patterson, 1932 obtained the master's degree in arts and 1937 obtained the doctor's degree in philosophy.

During the period 193 1- 1934, he worked as a psychology assistant researcher, editor-in-chief and examiner in the Institute of Occupational Stability. 1935- 1938, head of student personnel rules in the comprehensive college of the university of Minnesota. 1938- 1947, director of the student counseling office of the university of Minnesota.

1943- 1946 left the university of Minnesota for military service and served in the national defense research Council and the navy. 1947- 1959, vice president of Minnesota graduate school and executive director of American psychological association in Washington, D.C. 1962 returned to the university of Minnesota. 1963- 1975 is the head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota. 1978 retired, but continued to take some time off to be a counselor and editor.

Dali's works cover many fields, including the measurement of vocational interest, the achievements of middle school students in higher education, student consultation, individual differences, social psychology, psychometric theory and so on.
