The completion of this expressway ended the history that Honghe Prefecture had no expressway, and became the first expressway project in Yunnan Province, which was jointly funded by provinces, prefectures and cities and undertaken by local organizations. This is of great significance to promote the economic development of southern Yunnan. The Jishi expressway, which started construction on 1999, is the section of National Highway 323 from Ruijin, Jiangxi to Shaoguan and Lincang, Yunnan, and also the horizontal connecting line between GZ40 (He Kun) and National Highway 2 13 (Kunming). As the main economic trunk line in southern Yunnan, Jishi expressway starts from Ji Jie Town, Gejiu City in the east and reaches Yilong Town, Shiping County in the west, with a total length of 98.53 kilometers. It is a two-way four-lane expressway, which is 24.7 kilometers shorter than the old line. During the period of 1998, Honghe Prefecture Transportation Bureau planned a plan to go north-to build expressway from Ji Jie to Shiping, to connect Kunming on He Kun Highway in the north, Yuyuan Expressway in the west, and Wenshan and Guangxi in the east, connecting Mengzi, Gejiu, Jianshui and Shiping as a whole.
