China Chemical Industry Information Center is a state-level industrial information research unit formed by the merger of the former Institute of Science and Technology Information of the Ministry of Chemical Industry (established in 1959) and the former Economic Information Center of the Ministry of Chemical Industry (established in 1984) in June 1992. It was approved by the State Council in 1999 and transformed into a central scientific and technological enterprise. Over the past 50 years, the Center has devoted itself to tracking the scientific and technological level and economic development of the world chemical industry, studying and analyzing the development trend, industrial trends and high-tech progress of the chemical industry at home and abroad, actively developing the information industry, vigorously carrying out multi-level and all-round information services and exchanges, providing support for government decision-making and services for enterprise development, creating brilliant achievements and enjoying a good reputation at home and abroad. China Chemical Information Center is giving full play to its strong advantages in information, technology and human resources, strengthening the integration of internal and external resources, grasping the three links of information collection, information processing and information service, developing five categories of products: consulting, network, newspapers, exhibitions and government projects, providing decision support and public welfare services for the government and society with the advantages of information industry group, providing professional information value-added services for industries and enterprises, and starting a new journey with the concept of continuous innovation.
China Chemical Information Center is the largest chemical literature resource center in China, and a member of the third branch of National Science and Technology Library (NSTL) and National Engineering Technology Library (NETL). It has more than 200,000 books, conference materials and special documents, including more than 2,300 Chinese and foreign scientific journals, more than 300 Chinese and foreign scientific conference records, several scientific reports and reference books, and more than 200 patent documents. At present, there are several ways to provide literature services for the public, such as subscription of current periodicals, subscription of original texts, thematic retrieval, retrieval on behalf of others, sci-tech novelty retrieval, and providing remote library services for enterprises.
