A driver's license may be renewed if it expires no later than three years.
Within one year after the renewal period, the driver's license is overdue;
If the driver's license exceeds the renewal period of one year and less than three years, the driver's license shall be in the state of "cancellation and recovery" within these two years;
If the driver's license exceeds the three-year renewal time limit, the driver's license will be "cancelled" and cannot be restored.
License renewal program:
1. Bring the original driving license and my ID card, three one-inch color photos with a white background, and proof of physical condition to the vehicle management office;
2. After arriving at the vehicle management office, apply for and fill in the application form for motor vehicle driver's license with photos attached;
3. With the original motor vehicle driver's license, physical condition certificate, motor vehicle driver's license application form and photos, go through the replacement formalities at the motor vehicle driving place. The traffic police department shall go through the replacement procedures within one working day after approval.
Pay attention to replacement:
1, valid for one year, and timely replacement has no effect;
2. If the driver's license has expired for more than 2 years, you need to re-apply in dmv, and then take subject 1. You can only change your driver's license after the exam;
3. If it has been more than three years, the driver's license will be cancelled, and then you can take the test again;
4. When you change your driver's license in other places, you must submit it to local residents;

Provisions on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving License (Revised 202 1)
Article 63 A motor vehicle driver shall, within 90 days before the expiration of the motor vehicle driver's license, apply to the motor vehicle management office at or outside the place where the motor vehicle driver's license is issued. The application information shall be confirmed when applying, and the following certificates and vouchers shall be submitted:
(a) the identity certificate of the motor vehicle driver;
(2) The physical condition certificate issued by the medical institution.
Article 64 Where a motor vehicle driver moves out of the jurisdiction of the original vehicle management office, he shall apply to the vehicle management office where he moves in for a replacement. Motor vehicle drivers living outside the jurisdiction of the vehicle management office may apply to the vehicle management office for a new card. When applying, it shall confirm the application information, submit the identity certificate of the motor vehicle driver and the motor vehicle driver's license, and declare the physical condition.
Seventy-ninth motor vehicle drivers in any of the following circumstances, the vehicle management office shall cancel their motor vehicle driver's license:
(1) died;
(2) applying for cancellation;
(3) Loss of capacity for civil conduct, and the guardian applies for cancellation;
(four) physical conditions are not suitable for driving a motor vehicle;
(five) suffering from organic heart disease, epilepsy, Meniere's disease, dizziness, hysteria, paralysis agitans, psychosis, dementia and other nervous system diseases that affect physical activity and hinder safe driving;
(6) Being found to be driving a motor vehicle after taking or injecting drugs, being ordered to give up drug treatment and community rehabilitation in accordance with the law, or being forced to isolate drug treatment, or being addicted to psychotropic drugs for a long time;
(seven) to take the motor vehicle driver test instead of others;
(eight) more than one year after the validity of the motor vehicle driving license;
(nine) over 70 years of age, and did not submit proof of physical condition within one year after the end of a scoring cycle; Or holding a small automatic passenger car for the disabled, and failing to submit the physical condition certificate within one year after the end of three scoring cycles;
(ten) over 60 years old, the motor vehicle driver's license is only applicable to wheeled special mechanical vehicles, trolleybuses or trams, or over 70 years old, and the motor vehicle driver's license is only applicable to low-speed trucks and three-wheeled vehicles;
(eleven) the motor vehicle driver's license is revoked or the driver's license is revoked according to law.
If the motor vehicle driver's license is not recovered under any of the circumstances from Item 2 to Item 11 of Paragraph 1, the motor vehicle driver's license shall be declared invalid.
In the case of Item 8 of Paragraph 1, if the motor vehicle driver's license has been cancelled for less than two years, the motor vehicle driver may resume his driving qualification after passing the road traffic safety laws, regulations and related knowledge examination. The applicant may apply to the motor vehicle management office at or outside the place where the motor vehicle driver's license is issued.
In the case of item 9 of the first paragraph, if the motor vehicle driver's license is cancelled, and the motor vehicle driver's license is within the validity period or exceeds the validity period by less than one year, the motor vehicle driver may resume his driving qualification after submitting the physical condition certificate. The applicant may apply to the motor vehicle management office at or outside the place where the motor vehicle driver's license is issued.
In case of any of the circumstances mentioned in Items (2) to (9) of the first paragraph, the applicant shall apply for a motor vehicle driver's license in accordance with the provisions of Article 27, and if there is a record of illegal road traffic safety or the traffic accident has not been handled, it shall be handled.
