How to deal with Fitbit background synchronization error message?

When using Fitbit Connect to connect the software, you may receive the following error message:

The background synchronization service is not running on the computer. To continue, please reinstall Fitbit Connect connection software.

This error message indicates that Fitbit software is not installed correctly, which may conflict with other software on the computer, such as antivirus software or firewall.

This error can also be caused if the Fitbit software is saved in a location other than the default location (that is, the desktop or other folder). You need to uninstall Fitbit Connect connection software and then reinstall it to pair smart devices with accounts or synchronize data.

Follow these steps to solve the background synchronization error message problem:

Click the start button on the computer using WINDOWS system-click the control panel-select the uninstall program in the program item-select Fitbit Connect- in the installed program-click Uninstall/Change at the top of the window-click Uninstall-click Finish to complete the uninstall program-restart the computer.

Disable any antivirus software or firewall on your computer.

Go to and click Download Here under the device to download the installation file. You must not change the default file destination address.

After the download is completed, please open the new installation file in the download location.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

On a computer using MACOS system.

Open the download folder. (If you can't find this folder, please search for "download" in Spotlight search).

Open the Fitbit Connect connection software installation file.

Click to unload the Fitbit connecting gear.

Enter the administrator password to complete the uninstall process.

Make sure that the wireless sync USB plug is not plugged in.

Restart the computer.

Disable any antivirus software or firewall on your computer.

Go to and click Download Here under the device to download the installation file.

After the download is completed, open a new CD logo at the download location.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation and plug in the wireless synchronous USB plug if necessary.
