Historical background
Guilin-Liuzhou Expressway is the first expressway in Guangxi and a meaningful expressway. As early as 1992, the highway connecting Guilin and Liuzhou at that time was only the third-class highway of National Highway 322, which bypassed Lipu in Yangshuo. It takes 5.6 hours from Guilin to Liuzhou, and the road conditions are very poor, which seriously affects the economic benefits. So in 1992, the traffic department and the leaders of the autonomous region re-planned a second-class highway from Guilin to Liuzhou, which was consistent with the current route, and was approved by the central government. However, considering the long-term traffic rate and economic benefits, it was upgraded to a first-class highway and re-approved. At that time, Guiliu Road was designed according to the slope of 1 in the hilly area and 1 in the gentle area. However, it will be completely closed during the construction period, and the interchange will be set to cancel grade crossing. So a four-lane expressway standard was built. The final project officially started on1October 5 1993, and was completed and opened to traffic on May 5 1997.
Data overview
Guiliu expressway invested 65.438+0.86 billion yuan, and the average cost per kilometer was only 6.5438+0.34 million yuan, which is the lowest cost in expressway, a mountainous area in China. It is also the lowest cost but good cost performance in expressway. There are 725 culverts, 725 passages, 30 medium and small bridges, and the roadbed is 24.5 meters wide. Two-way four-lane, with a design speed of 80km to100km and a total length of138.46km, passing through Liaotian, Su Qiao, Yongfu, Zhai Bo, Huangmian, Luzhai, Liuzhoubei and Huangmian. Liuzhou is connected to Liunan Expressway in the south, forming an important section of Guihai Expressway (now a section of G72 Quannan Expressway), connecting Liuzhou, an important industrial town in Guangxi, with Guilin, an international tourist city, and promoting the economic development of the two places.
Guilin-Liuzhou expressway and Gui Xiang Railway basically overlap, which largely replaces the importance of railway traffic between Guilin and Liuzhou, and greatly shortens the time from Guilin to Liuzhou.
The quality of the project has withstood the severe test of two major floods, 1994 and 1996, and its completion will greatly promote the sustainable development of Guangxi's economy and the prosperity of tourism.
