The basic principles of psychological counseling:
1. Principle of confidentiality: Consultants should keep confidential the relevant information of visitors, and may not disclose the names and personal information of visitors to the public; Respect the privacy of visitors and don't talk about visitors outside the clinic. If you have to quote consulting cases because of work needs, you should properly handle the materials and not disclose the real name, unit or address of the visitors.
2. Principle of objective position: Psychological counselors should maintain an objective and neutral position in the process of psychological consultation, and cannot judge the psychology and behavior of visitors by their own values, let alone criticize or blame them.
3. Principle of limiting professional ability: The main purpose of a consultant is to help visitors analyze problems, cultivate their positive attitude, build their self-confidence, let their psychology grow and find their own solutions to problems. When the problems faced by visitors exceed the professional ability of psychological counselors, psychological counselors should actively and timely refer visitors to appropriate psychological counseling institutions.
4. Principle of time and emotion limitation: Psychological counseling must abide by certain time limits. Generally, the consultation time is about 50 minutes each time (it can be extended appropriately at the time of initial acceptance), and the consultation time or interval cannot be extended at will. The establishment of consultation-visitor relationship is the key to the smooth development of consultation work, and it is also the psychological communication and way between consultants and visitors. But there are limits. Visitors' persuasion and requests, even if they are well-intentioned, should be rejected before the consultation is terminated.
