Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is the most influential official economic cooperation forum in the Asia-Pacific region, which was established at 1989. 198911in October, Australian prime minister Hawke proposed to hold a ministerial meeting to discuss strengthening Asia-Pacific economic cooperation. After consultation with relevant countries, the first APEC ministerial meeting was held in Canberra, Australia, the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations from 5 to 7 October, which marked the establishment of APEC. 1June, 1993, it was renamed as Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, or APEC for short, and the English language was Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. The purpose is: to maintain economic growth and development; Promote economic interdependence among members; Strengthen the open multilateral trading system; Reduce regional trade and investment barriers and safeguard the common interests of the people in the region.
