Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College, referred to as "Hangzhou Vocational College", is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is a full-time general higher vocational college sponsored by Hangzhou Municipal People's Government and approved by Zhejiang Provincial People's Government. It is a national backbone vocational college construction unit, a national modern apprenticeship pilot unit, a national high-quality vocational college, a high-level vocational college with China characteristics and a professional construction plan construction unit (file B), a demonstration vocational college in Zhejiang Province and a high-quality vocational college construction unit in Zhejiang Province.
It is the first batch of national educational informatization pilot units, the construction unit of cultural quality education base in national vocational colleges, and the first batch of member units of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Vocational Education Committee. It is also the lead unit and the first director unit of the National cross-border electronic commerce Comprehensive Experimental Zone Vocational Education Group.
Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College, formerly known as Hangzhou Staff and Workers College, was formed by the merger of Hangzhou Machinery Workers College, Hangzhou Chemical Workers College, Hangzhou Textile Workers College, Hangzhou Silk Workers College, Hangzhou Light Industry Workers College and West Lake Electronic Workers College under the Economic Committee of Hangzhou. On this basis, it was formally established with the approval of the former State Education Commission 1998 and the approval of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province in 2002.
