Why is Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region so much bigger than Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region?

Fortunately, what the landlord asked was not: Why is China so much bigger than Japan? Why is Japan so much bigger than the Vatican?

Back to the topic, I can only answer this question: in ancient times, Guangdong and Guangxi were relatively large at the same time, and they were officially separated after liberation. Originally Guangxi Province, 1957 was changed to Zhuang Autonomous Region. It wasn't that big. The state has classified several coastal cities in Guangdong into Guangxi, which has a coastline. Although the Hui population ranks behind Zhuang and Manchu, most of them are scattered all over the country now, and the Zhuang people's residence is relatively concentrated. It feels that the total population is not very different but the territory is much larger than that of Hui areas.
