Brief Introduction of the Third Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security

The Third Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security was established in 1978, which is a scientific research unit directly under the Ministry of Public Security. The Institute is located at No.76 Yueyang Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, and has research bases and business institutions in Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park in Pudong New Area and Dongcheng District and Haidian District in Beijing. By the end of 20 14, there were nearly 1800 cadres and workers, including more than 400 researchers/kloc-0, and more than 600 people with doctoral or master's degrees.

The main research fields of our institute are information network security, Internet of Things, special communication, drug control, anti-terrorism and explosion prevention, image processing and transmission, social security technology, etc. It has a number of national and ministerial-level professional and technical laboratories, such as postdoctoral research center, national engineering laboratory of key technologies for information security level protection, national anti-computer intrusion and anti-virus research center, national continuing education base for professional and technical personnel, key laboratory of information network security of the Ministry of Public Security, and electronic data forensic laboratory. He has successively undertaken the national science and technology support plan, "863", high-tech industrialization projects and national and provincial important scientific research tasks such as the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Public Security and Shanghai, and has made remarkable achievements in the fields of eID (Network Identity Authentication), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), VSD (Video Structured Description) and PDD (Digital Individual Soldier for Police), and won many national and provincial science and technology awards. Since 1995, it has been continuously recognized as a high-tech unit by Shanghai Science and Technology Commission. In 2005, it passed the ISO900 1 quality management system certification.
