Edible alcohol is the product of grain and yeast fermented in a fermentor, filtered and rectified, usually an aqueous solution of ethanol or a mixture of water and ethanol. Edible alcohol does not contain benzene and methanol which are toxic to human body.
The source of industrial alcohol is ethanol obtained by cracking long-chain organic compounds in petroleum under the condition of catalyst and high temperature. With the development of modern industrial technology, the content and purity of ethanol can reach the level that people can eat, but everyone knows that there are edible things, so in order to distinguish it from edible alcohol, some organic toxic substances such as methanol are added to industrial alcohol, and there will be obvious signs and instructions on the outer packaging!
Ethanol, commonly known as alcohol, is a liquid at room temperature, with a boiling point of 78.2 degrees, which is volatile and has a particularly pungent smell! There are two kinds of alcohol commonly used in the laboratory: industrial alcohol (ethanol content is 95%) and anhydrous alcohol.
