South China Tiger, also known as "Chinese Tiger", is a unique tiger species in China, living in south-central China. Mainly living in forests and mountains. Living alone, not gregarious, active at night, developed sense of smell, quick action, good at swimming, but not climbing trees. Feed on herbivores such as wild boar, deer and roe deer. Generally speaking, a tiger needs at least 70 square kilometers of forest to survive, and it must also have 200 sika deer, 300 antelopes and 150 wild boar. It has been widely distributed in East China, Central China, South China and Southwest China. And some areas in Shaanxi, Longdong, western Henan and southwestern Shanxi (Hunan, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Hubei, Sichuan, Henan, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Gansu): East longitude 1500. West longitude 1000 There are only more than 70 captive South China tigers in China, of which 7 are wild in South Africa (female tiger Guotai, male tiger Woods, female tiger Madonna, and later male tiger 327 from Suzhou), and there are 3 Cathay Pacific cubs and 1 Madonna cubs. There are only more than 60 South China tigers in captivity in China Zoo, which are scattered in 19 city zoos in China. In addition, Hope, a wild male tiger in South Africa, died unfortunately, and another cub of Madonna failed to survive. It used to be widely distributed, with the largest number in China. Its distribution is far beyond South China, including the vast areas of East China, Central China and Southwest China, and even found in some areas such as southwestern Shaanxi, eastern Gansu, western Henan and southwestern Shanxi. In the mid-20th century, Nanling area was the distribution center of South China tigers, but the distribution of Zhejiang, Hubei and Sichuan in neighboring provinces was uneven. At present, there may be less than 25 mountainous areas bordering Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi and Fujian.
