Jinan, also known as "Spring City", is the capital of Shandong Province, one of the 15 sub-provincial cities in China, the central city in the southern wing of the Bohai Rim region, and the political, cultural, educational, economic, transportation and scientific and technological center of Shandong Province.
Jinan is called "Spring City" because of its numerous springs and "Seventy-two Springs" in China.
