Expert in housing construction, navigation, guidance and control, academician of China Academy of Sciences. He has served as vice president of the Academy of Astronautics, vice president and dean of the School of Instrumental Science and Optoelectronic Engineering, and won the "He Liang Li Hao Foundation Science and Technology Achievement Award". Fang, also known as "Gyroscope Academician", has been making unremitting efforts to develop internationally advanced gyroscopes for more than 30 years. Fang expressed the hope that he and his students can make use of the scientific research advantages brought by advanced equipment to make a breakthrough in the development of atomic gyroscopes and truly lead the world.
