Can the deposit inquiry letter from the notary office replace notarization?
The deposit inquiry letter of the notary office cannot replace the notarial certificate. An heir whose identity has been confirmed by a notary public may, on the basis of the deposit inquiry letter issued by the notary public, inquire about the deposit information of the depositor as the decedent in various banking institutions, as well as the related information of other property rights and interests with inheritance nature that are managed and known by other banking institutions. After receiving the deposit inquiry letter, the banking institution shall promptly handle the inquiry for the heir and issue a deposit inquiry notice. Therefore, the inquiry letter can only inquire about the deposit information of the decedent in the bank, and can't directly extract the inquired deposit. It can only be extracted after holding relevant materials to the notary office for inheritance notarization.
