In our China tradition, there are Four Holy Beasts, namely Zuo Long and Right White Tiger, as well as former Suzaku and post-Xuanwu. These beasts have strong applications in geomantic omen and architecture. China is located in the northern hemisphere. When we stand in front of the house with our backs to the door, the left hand side is east and the right hand side is west, which corresponds to Zuo Qinglong and Right White Tiger.
This statement has scientific basis. The house was built high in the east and low in the west Whenever the sun rises, it will shine on the east house first, and the east house can take a sunshine bath earlier, which will be better for health. If the house in the west is too high, it will be affected by the lighting in the east room. When the sun begins to set, the low houses in the west can also shine for a long time. Generally speaking, every room has enough light, which is beneficial to human health.
Another point is what we traditionally call "neighbors". On the left is the east neighbor, and on the right is the west neighbor. Generally speaking, the position on the left is also higher than that on the right, and the left dragon is right and the white tiger is right. Dragons suppress white tigers. It doesn't matter how tall your dragon is than the white tiger. But if the white tiger on your right is taller than the dragon on your left, the neighbors on the left are not willing to cause disputes. It's a matter of light and status. If you are careful, you will find that most important buildings are built at the eastern end of the village, which is also a familiar word.
There is also a saying that men belong to dragons and women belong to white tigers. Qinglong and Wuxing belong to wood, while Baihu and Wuxing belong to gold. If you build your own house and the white tiger is taller than the green dragon, it is Jin Kemu. The woman in the family will restrain the man, which is a taboo in the ancient society where men are superior to women and is naturally not allowed.
