Linyi, formerly known as Langya and Yizhou, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province, a second-class big city, a central city in southeastern Shandong, a modern industrial and trade city with waterfront characteristics, a trade and logistics center approved by the State Council, and an important commodity grain base in Shandong Province.
By 2020, there will be three districts and nine counties in the city, with a total area of 17 19 1.2 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh census, the resident population of Linyi is 1 10 18365.
Linyi, named after Linyi River, is located in the east of China, the southeast of Shandong, the west bank of the Yellow Sea, the junction of the Yangtze River Delta economic circle and the Bohai Economic Circle, the national key development area of East Longhai, and the port-facing industrial belt in southern Shandong. It is one of the logistics turnover centers and trade wholesale centers, and is known as "famous commercial city" and "logistics capital".
Linyi has a temperate monsoon climate, with mountains such as Yimeng Mountain extending from the north to control the upstream flow of Yishu River, and the vast Lincang Plain alluvial to the south.
Linyi is the core birthplace of Dongyi culture. About 200,000 years ago, human ancestors created an ancient civilization in Yimeng. It has a history of more than 3000 years since the city was built in the Western Zhou Dynasty. This area has long been the seat of Xuzhou Secretariat, Langya County, Donghai County and Yizhou Prefecture.
In modern times, the China * * * production party established the Yimeng revolutionary base area in Linyi, and established the Shandong provincial government, the Central East China Bureau, the East China Military Region and other party and government organs.
