The main responsibilities of Jiangsu Prison Administration are:
(a) the implementation of the "People's Republic of China (PRC) Prison Law", "People's Police Law of the People's Republic of China" and other state laws, decrees and regulations, and the correct implementation of the party's prison work principles and policies;
(two) responsible for supervising and guiding the province's prisons, juvenile reformatories and prison people's police to enforce the law in a fair and civilized manner;
(3) Planning the setting and layout of prisons, juvenile delinquents' reformatories and criminal detention points in the province, and managing and guiding the prisons and juvenile delinquents' reformatories to build modern and civilized prisons;

(eight) responsible for the coordination and guidance of the transformation of prison system supervision facilities, flood control and drought relief, and the supply and deployment of materials;
(nine) to manage and guide the socialized affairs such as housing, medical system reform, compulsory education, employee pension insurance, public facilities construction and environmental management in the grassroots units of the prison system in the province;
(10) To be responsible for the construction of grass-roots leading bodies of the prison system in the whole province, and to manage and guide the ideological and political work of the prison system, the construction of party-mass organizations, the construction of the prison people's police force and the management of employees and retirees;
(eleven) to be responsible for the investigation and handling of major disciplinary cases in the prison system of the province, to manage and guide the discipline inspection and supervision of the prison system, as well as the audit and supervision of production and operation, financial revenue and expenditure and economic benefits;
(twelve) to undertake other tasks assigned by the provincial government and the Department of Justice.
