First, the consultant's workshop-embarrassing background
Looking at the current situation of psychological counseling, let's start with the counselor training institution, the production base of psychological counselors. As a national second-level psychological counselor, I have been paying attention to this industry for several years, during which I have contacted a large number of counselors and counselor training institutions. It should be said that I have personal experience of domestic mass production consultants. If you ask who is the first beneficiary of the qualification of psychological counselor, it must be the psychological counselor training institution. The qualification of "National X-level Psychological Counselor" issued by the Ministry of Labor stipulates that trainees must have a nationally recognized bachelor's degree in psychology, education and medicine. It is a "great" feat for China to bring pedagogy and medicine into the scope of enrollment. It is difficult to find that psychologists who are engaged in psychotherapy or counseling in developed countries in Europe and America have medical or educational backgrounds, and even psychology majors must be doctors majoring in clinical psychology. Although medicine, psychology and pedagogy are closely related, they are all irreplaceable majors.
The phrase "there are policies above and countermeasures below" has been fully demonstrated in the training of psychological counselors in China. If we recruit students in strict accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Labor, I am afraid that many consultant training institutions will be difficult to survive today. The training institution I chose at the beginning was selected after consulting more than a dozen training bases, and it was one of the best in terms of teachers, formal degree and class hours. However, for a training class with 60 or 70 students, I'm afraid those with psychological background can't even reach 10%. If you take it as a random sample, you should know how many people in the consulting industry have professional backgrounds. In fact, if you really study the professional qualifications of many psychological counselors at present, you will find that more than half of them have only participated in psychological counselor training for two or three months, while the proportion of counselors who meet the requirements of the Ministry of Labor in psychology, pedagogy and medical education is quite low.
Second, the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea-Media as a Pedal
Perhaps you will find that in recent years, the number of psychological counselors seems to have suddenly increased, and you often see psychological counselors in the media. Anyone engaged in psychological counseling should love psychology and be ready to help others. However, at present, the official psychological counseling institutions in China are extremely limited, and only some hospitals have opened psychological clinics or psychological departments. The vast majority of psychological counselors flow to the private sector or set up their own consulting companies. This has to face the problem of self-promotion. Some consultants know how to use the media to promote themselves. Perhaps you will often see many counselors introduce themselves like this: "XX network invited counselors, XX radio invited psychologists, XX magazine published articles and so on." Enthusiasm for public welfare is a good thing. But many times it is a helpless move under self-promotion. I have seen some consultants hang a bunch of titles in their personal introductions, mainly invited consultants and moderators of websites; And those who go to the media hungry after work; How many of them are really enthusiastic about public welfare? Of course, it's not the consultant's fault. Everyone must survive, and we can't rely on reputable medical institutions as a platform. Many consultants can only devote themselves to self-promotion. However, how much leisure do you have to study and consult psychology in the media? Now many psychological counselors are not consulting, but marketing.
Third, high tariffs-daunting.
At present, the psychological counseling market is still dominated by psychological counseling companies, and the market price is usually in 200 yuan-1000 yuan/hour. Only from this price and the average income level of China society, we can see that psychological counseling is a very immature industry in China! Many consulting companies are doing a one-shot deal: one case is done once or twice. True psychological counseling is a protracted war, and it is difficult to completely solve it once or twice except for some very simple problems.
It can be said that psychological counselor is a just-started profession in China, and there is no stable position yet, but if we only talk about the prospects, there is of course a big market.
Moreover, there are few enough professional consultants. If you really make a name for yourself in the industry, it can be said that it is a very profitable career, because psychological counseling is a very fashionable and necessary thing in some high-consumption groups. There are many such groups in China, but there are few relatively good consultants. If you can take them as the object of your work, you will soon become a millionaire. And using this as a network resource can invest in many related industries. I have such an example around me. The consultation is specifically aimed at people above the manager level of enterprises, and a service medical institution for one-on-one quarterly physical examination of high-consumption people has been established with others. The membership fee is 0.2 million/200 thousand per year, and no one only serves eight times a year. This shows that the profit is high.
If you want to be an excellent psychological counselor, what you have learned is not enough under the education system in China. I hope you can choose a good tutor to guide you to learn something, such as philosophy, which is involved.
As far as I know, Sichuan University has the only tutor specializing in psychoanalysis in China, which should be good. I hope you can make the right choice.
