The State Council said that the United States and China reached a five-point understanding on Wednesday to reduce carbon emissions, involving heavy vehicles, manufacturing and coal-fired power plants, which are the biggest sources of carbon emissions. China and the United States are the largest emitters of greenhouse gases in the world.
The China-US Working Group on Climate Change was established by Chinese and American officials in April, and will work with enterprises and non-governmental organizations to work out a plan to deal with climate change and reduce pollution before June 5438+ 10.
These measures are also aimed at improving energy efficiency, collecting and managing greenhouse gas data, and promoting grid connection of renewable energy power generation.
The working group reached a consensus on the above measures at the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue, which lasted for two days in the State Council and ended on Thursday.
The agreement reached between China and the United States will focus on technological upgrading, not binding, and not trying to reduce a certain amount of carbon emissions. However, it is still expected that Sino-US cooperation will support a wider international dialogue on greenhouse gas emission reduction and help to complete the international convention and replace the Kyoto Protocol before 20 15.
