Aquaculture is the key specialty of Gansu Agricultural University in recent years. With the economic and social progress and the rapid development of aquaculture, the number and scale of institutions engaged in fishery development and research in our province and the whole country have gradually increased, fish species have diversified and improved, the number and scale of aquaculture enterprises have increased, and the level of production management modernization has improved, which has a great demand for professional and technical personnel. At present and in the future, graduates are in short supply and have good employment prospects.
After nearly 20 years of development, the specialty has an integrated training system of undergraduate, master and doctor, which has delivered a large number of high-quality technical talents for the sustainable development of aquaculture and regional economy in Gansu Province and even the whole country, and provided strong human and technical support for the development of characteristic aquaculture in Gansu Province.
At present, the development of seed science and technology is stagnant.
