The school's predecessor was Yongchuan Training Center for Adult Higher Education of Sichuan Normal University, which was founded in 1993. In February 2005, it was renamed Chongqing Institute of Information Engineering. In April 2008, it was upgraded to an ordinary full-time college and renamed Chongqing Vocational College of Science and Technology.
