Wu Nengquan's Major Achievements

Professor Wu has made three academic contributions: one is to deduce the model of China's utilization of foreign capital and economic growth; the other is to put forward indicators and methods to test the performance of foreign-funded enterprises; and the third is to explore an "all-round management model" that can improve the efficiency of local enterprises from consulting practice. His master's thesis and another masterpiece won the second (1985) and third (1989) National Excellent Thesis Award for Young and Middle-aged Economists respectively, and his doctoral thesis won the first prize of Guangdong Higher Education Commission and Economic Society (1998). Its scientific research activities are supported by overseas Lingnan Fund, Fulbright Fund, Sino-British Science and Technology Fund, China-Europe Education Fund, French Social Science Fund and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Fund.

In recent years, Professor Wu devoted himself to the theoretical research and consulting support of private enterprises themselves and their internalization, and successively established Sun Yat-sen University Management Forum, Sun Yat-sen University Management Salon, Sun Yat-sen University Professor-Manager Research Association and Sun Yat-sen University Management Consulting Center, which made a beneficial attempt to open a "second classroom" for Sun Yat-sen University to serve the School of Society and Management. Professor Wu tries to explore new ways to train entrepreneurs and professional managers in the process of combining scientific research, teaching and consulting, and make contributions to the early localization of MBA and EMBA education.
