Zhangjiakou Teachers College was founded in 1954, renamed as Zhangjiakou Education College in 1984, merged with Zhangjiakou TV University and Zhangjiakou United Vocational College in 1984 to form Zhangjiakou University, renamed as Zhangjiakou Vocational and Technical College in 1997, and merged with Zhangjiakou Agricultural Machinery Engineering School in 200 1 to form Zhangjiakou Vocational and Technical College.
In April 2023, the school official website showed that the college has Huai' an Branch, Chongli Branch and Xuanhua Branch; There are five teaching departments of Marxist College (Department of Ideological and Political Science) and Basic Department, and 37 higher vocational majors, with more than 0.3 million students and 52/kloc-0 staff.

In April, 2023, official website showed that there were 2 provincial demonstration majors, 2 backbone majors in Hebei Province in the action plan for innovation and development of higher vocational education, and 32 "1+X" certificate systems were piloted. There are 2 national-level training bases, 2 provincial-level training bases/kloc-0, and 2 higher vocational schools supported by the central government, so as to enhance the development ability of professional services. There are 9 on-campus training centers, 74 on-campus training bases and 75 off-campus training bases such as Link Cars. It has the National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute, the authorized teaching base of China Automobile Talents Training Project, and the special skills certification training and assessment base.
