Founded in 1956, Beijing Dongcheng No.1 Library is a comprehensive public library set up by the district government, a non-profit cultural and educational institution that collects and arranges documents and provides document services for the public, and an advanced unit of spiritual civilization in Beijing. 20 13 dongcheng district library was renamed as the first library of dongcheng district.
1998, 2003, 2009 and 20 13 were rated as first-class libraries at the prefecture level by the Ministry of Culture. 20 12 was awarded the title of "National Reading Promotion Demonstration Base" and "National Humanities and Social Sciences Popularization Base"; "Book Sea Listening to Tao Series Reader Activities" won the Beijing Learning Brand; Won the title of "Electronic Reading Room Demonstration Site" issued by the Ministry of Culture. The current library building is 1996, located at No.85 Jiaodaokou East Street with convenient transportation, with a total area of11780m2. It is adjacent to Guozijian Street in the north, Wen Tianxiang Temple and Shuntian Fu Xue in the south, Beijing No.22 Middle School in the east, Oriental Cultural Exchange Center in the west and Bell and Drum Tower in the cultural center in the west. The human and geographical environment is extremely superior.
From June 5438+00, 2007 to May 2008, in order to further improve the readers' borrowing environment, enhance the library's service level and ability, and better play its role in the construction of public cultural service system, the district government invested more than 30 million yuan to upgrade the building. The library has 10 service windows, including the first lending room, the second lending room, the children's lending room, the comprehensive reading room, the foreign language reading room, the creative literature reading room, the local literature reading room, the government information consulting room, the study room and the visually impaired reading room. Every year, it receives nearly 600,000 copies (pieces) of various social documents, 700 reading seats and more than 0/00 computers connected to the Internet.
The Convention Center of the First Library in Dongcheng District also has elegant, solemn, warm and comfortable theaters, exhibition halls, lecture halls, multi-function halls, conference rooms and training classrooms, which can provide various types and levels of cultural and educational services for the citizens.
