"A gentleman has Jiu Si" is a passage from Confucius, which comes from The Analects of Confucius. The original text is: Confucius said: "A gentleman has Jiu Si: thinking clearly, listening attentively, looking warmly, looking respectfully, speaking faithfully, thinking respectfully, questioning doubtfully, thinking difficultly and making sense."
Confucius, surnamed Kong, named Qiu, Ming, was born in Lu at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, and his ancestral home was Liyi in the Song Dynasty. Confucius was a famous thinker and educator in ancient China. He initiated the atmosphere of private lectures, advocated benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom and faith, and was the founder of Confucianism.
The Analects of Confucius includes 14 chapters. The topics discussed include the political activities of Confucius and his students, the principle of attention in getting along with others, the three commandments of a gentleman, three fears and Jiu Si.
