1. Why choose BMW?
In the eyes of many people, a convertible sports car is full of cars, and only the rich second generation can drive it. Because this kind of car is not practical, the failure rate is still high, and the air quality is not good now, many people are reluctant to open the skylight, let alone open the roof to absorb the exhaust and smog of other people's cars. Once upon a time, I thought so, but every time I saw the convertible around me, I always stared at it.
2020 is an extremely difficult year for Wuhan. All of a sudden, the fierce epidemic has cast an opaque haze over Wuhan, which also makes us Wuhan people live in the room in fear every day. During the Spring Festival, I was also brushing suffocating news, overlooking the lifeless scenery and thinking about the sad life that the whole family might have been taken away by COVID-19.
After the unsealing of Wuhan, I had a long talk with my family and made them understand my determination to live for myself. After winning the support of my parents and the consent of my wife, I went to the blue sky and white clouds alone.
2, car selection process:
As for why I chose the new Z4 car, my mental journey is simple and boring: I like convertible sports cars since I was a child, and I think I must drive such a handsome and stylish car in my life; In addition, I also have a BYD Tang, which I personally think is the most cost-effective car at present. It is about 300,000, a medium-sized SUV, a 4.5-second six-piston Brabo brake caliper, a 22-inch horse brand tire, a full-time electric four-wheel drive, pure electricity, quiet and smooth, and long-distance mixing is worry-free. The only thing criticized is BYD's brand, which is always a little unconfident.
So within my budget (around 600,000 yuan), Z4 will directly come into my sight. BMW Z4 has a more modern interior than Mercedes-Benz SLC, a fiercer appearance than Audi TT, more reliable stability and preservation rate than Jaguar F-TYPE, higher cost performance and mechanical performance than low-priced Porsche 7 18, and more practical than Toyota Supra. So, I went directly to the 4S shop, paid the deposit, and brought the only limited edition Z4 silver cream in Wuhan.
3, manipulation: make people confident
What is BMW most proud of? I believe everyone knows the answer to this question-that is, sports and manipulation, which can be said to be the most sports and manipulation brand of BBA. How about a BMW sports car? Not to mention this. Abandoned the big space that domestic people are keen on, in exchange for short front suspension, short wheelbase, 50:50 weight ratio, narrow front and wide rear tires.
So Z4' s handling feels confident. If anyone has played go-karting, you will know that this feeling of flying close to the ground is unambiguous when turning corners and changing lanes. The thick M-sports steering wheel doesn't have any steering position, it just needs to change lanes gently, and there is no feeling of dragging its feet. This is very obvious compared with my Tang. He has a lot of room, and he feels a little slow to change lanes, just like sailing. Maybe the control essence of SUV and sports car is too different.
4. Appearance: Very satisfied
I am also satisfied with the appearance of Z4. In addition to the controversy on the front face, many riders look at the pictures and feel a bit like Kia, but the real car still looks quite atmospheric. My favorite is the lateral rear and lateral head-up perspective. Lines and shapes remind others that I am a pure sports car.
5, indoor: love and hate intertwined
The interior of Z4 also gave me 5 points of love and 5 points of hate. What I hate is that this dashboard and central control panel, as well as the layout of the blocking area, are the same as many BMWs. But from another perspective, this modular design also reduces the cost of modification and maintenance.
I like TA's seat very much, especially this lava red, which is both coquettish and tacky and full of details. There are not only practical leg rests and electric wings, but also a circle of light-proof strips on the seat, which is particularly dazzling at night.

6. Motivation: Enough
Personally, I don't think there is much demand for the power of roadsters, because roadsters don't need to "crash" like performance cars. The real meaning of a convertible sports car is to enjoy the moment alone or with your lover, open the canopy, blow a cool breeze on the tree-lined path, lakeside, seaside and Panshan highway, and feel the breeze. Therefore, I bought the M40i model not for power, nor for the first time.
7. Exhaust: Surprise
The exhaust of Z4 surprised me. A low-power 2.0T engine has a rich voice and adrenaline surge. Whenever I drive in and out of crowded places, I always like to cut 1 gear, and step on it at high speed for a few times. The speed is not fast, but the sound is very refreshing. I am satisfied with the attention and turn around. Sometimes, watching others turn to look at me, I seem to see myself a few years ago. Whenever I think about it, I always slow down and my thoughts fly.
8. Space: barely enough.
In addition to extraordinary handling and provocative appearance, the practicality of Z4 is also worth mentioning. Although the storage space of sports cars is really annoying, such as the storage compartment of the door panel, even a bottle of mineral water can't be put in, and there are two cup holders in the armrest box, but you can't close the armrest box with things like milk tea, otherwise there will be no place to put your arms. The cover space of the central control is very small, and there is basically no room for mobile phones and keys.
Fortunately, there is a net bag behind the seat, which can hold a lot of sundries. My hat, sunglasses, mask and bottles of water are in it. In addition, the trunk of Z4 is much larger than that of a hard-top sports car. After all, the soft-top convertible does not take up space, and the trunk space utilization rate is very high. This improves the practicability of Z4.
9, daily driving: very comfortable
The daily driving of Z4 is very comfortable. Although Z4 is a sports car with a low chassis, TA has good shock absorption. Tiny potholes can rebound quickly and are very elastic. However, when crossing the speed bump, it is still necessary to slow down to less than 20km/h, otherwise the suspension stroke that is too short will be compressed to the extreme, and then it will bounce up very stiffly. Not to mention how sour that feeling is.
In addition, Z4 is front and rear drive, so the noise inside the car is well controlled. I've been running for almost 3 thousand kilometers now, and the convertible mechanism has some slight abnormal noise. After the hood is closed, the car is quite quiet, and the sound of the engine in ECO mode is almost negligible. I think Z4 has done a good job at this point.
10, fuel consumption: very fuel efficient.
Z4 is a two-seater sports car, with a length of 4336mm, a low body and a streamlined cockpit. I am surprised by the fuel consumption. Many colleagues and friends asked me that this car must be very expensive. I just shook my head gently and held out the palm that surprised them-Wuyou. Yes, unless I am in a good mood and want to drive hard, I usually go to work with ECO.
The normal commuting distance of 60km is mostly elevated. When you go out early in the morning, the fuel consumption is only 5. 1L/ 100km without traffic jams, and the peak fuel consumption is only 6.5L/ 100km after work, with an average of 5.8L/ 100km.
So every time I say that my Z4 consumes less than 6 fuel, they are shocked, because even if it is a Japanese hybrid, it takes about 6 fuel to commute. Every time I think about it, I feel that buying Z4 can be very cost-effective and passionate. Driving normally is too economical.

Having said so many exciting things about Z4, I'd like to make a few more points:
There is a classic line: success is also a storm, and failure is also a storm. The slender car cover of Z4 makes TA full of strength and wildness, but at the same time it also greatly increases the blind area of TA's vision, especially when driving in narrow urban areas. I have no idea where my right front is, so I drive carefully and slowly every time, especially when turning, for fear of meeting people riding battery cars and guardrails.
Another point is that the configuration is a little low, there is no 360 image, and the rearview mirror can only turn the right rearview mirror, which leads me to always stop without stopping. As an old driver with six years of actual driving experience, it is a bit embarrassing.
The limited edition of Silver Frost has a big defect, that is, this car can't match it, and there is no comfortable entry and optional Harman Kardon stereo. After I picked up the car, I had to modify an LCD key to replace the comfortable entrance. Later, I went to the 4S shop to see that the 8-series crystal handle was particularly dazzling, so I changed it to a Z4 crystal handle, which was very satisfactory, especially when the atmosphere light was on at night, and I felt that the money was not wasted.

Having said that, this is actually just my little feeling about 3,000 kilometers. Maintenance still has a long way to go. I also want to take my wife to drive the Z4 for a long trip and feel the comfort brought by the sports car. However, due to the epidemic, it is unlikely to come out this year.
However, life is always full of hope. Just like I did six years ago, I crowded the bus to work every day. A few years later, I also had a practical and comprehensive Tang, and I also realized my childhood dream of driving a convertible sports car Z4, although it was not a super run of hundreds of millions.
