School profile: 1960, Guilin Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the predecessor of Guilin University of Electronic Technology, was born in this beautiful city. The school has been renamed as Guilin Machinery Industry School, Guilin Radio School and Guilin Institute of Electronic Industry, and has successively been affiliated to Fourth Ministry of machinery industry, Ministry of Electronic Industry, Ministry of Mechanical and Electronic Industry, China Electronic Industry Corporation and Ministry of Information Industry. In February 2006, the Ministry of Education agreed that Guilin University of Electronic Technology should be renamed Guilin University of Electronic Technology.
