Consumers in Hong Kong market have unique requirements on chicken flavor, bone hardness and fat distribution when they emphasize chicken cooking methods (white-cut chicken, brine chicken), which has great influence on chicken breed selection. In 1960s, commercial and foreign trade departments established breeding grounds in producing areas and adopted the policy of rewarding superior and selling inferior, which promoted the development of this variety. The Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences started the purebred breeding from 65438 to 0975, which ensured the further improvement of the quality of this variety.
