Reconciliation classic fragment
Mary and Max is an Australian clay animation made in 2009. The theme of the film is black, white and brown. With absurd and humorous pictures and narration, it tells the strange and naive "forgotten friendship" between Mary, who is chubby and somewhat depressed and lonely in Melbourne, and Marx, a Jew and a messy and obese autistic person living in new york. The communication between two people spanned two continents and lasted for 20 years, which brought the audience a journey of friendship, self-analysis and self-analysis.
Some people seem to be played a joke by the creator and are born out of place in this world-Mary
Mary is a little girl in Melbourne, Australia. She likes cartoon "Noblitt", sweetened condensed milk and chocolate. Like many girls, she is full of curiosity about all new things and dreams of a perfect love and family. But the dazzling scar on the muddy forehead is often the shadow of inferiority.
Mary's father is engaged in a very mechanical operation in a factory-labeling tea bags, but his hobby is making bird models-birds, which means flying freely. His ideal is to explore metals.
What about Mary's mother? For Mary, Vera always finds it difficult. She is a woman who drinks for a living and has the habit of "borrowing" things from shopping malls. Mary's mother married such a taciturn husband, and she didn't have enough ability to create a rich life for her family, which is probably the main reason why she developed the habit of drinking and stealing.
Mary, who lives in such a family, becomes more lonely and inferior because of lack of parents' care and communication. Mary told her mother that she wished she had several brothers and sisters, but her alcoholic mother said that she was just an accident, which surprised her: how can a person be an accident? Her grandfather told her that the baby was the result of long-term planning, and the baby was found by her father under the beer glass.
Eight-year-old Mary still can't understand what her mother and grandfather said. Mary is full of curiosity about the interesting names of Americans in the phone book. She casually copied Marx's address from the phone book and started this "forgetting to make friends".
Marx, 44, lives in new york, USA. He also likes the Noblitt family. Marx suffered from Asperger's syndrome and was insensitive to facial expressions. He needs to rely on an "expression book" to identify other people's emotions. He is not good at communication and expression, easily anxious and has no friends. Although my IQ is not low, I can only do some basic work.
Mary's letter made Marx feel uncomfortable. He tried his best to calm himself down and wrote a letter to Mary seriously.
Mary and Max is unfortunate, they are humble and gloomy, their lives are trivial and cracked, and there are not many warm colors. But they are also very lucky to meet each other and become the most trusted, considerate, caring and trustworthy friends.
Marx silently and thoughtfully cared for the lonely and helpless little girl thousands of miles away. Will be anxious to answer a question raised by Mary. When Mary asked in the letter, "What is sex?" Marx was stimulated again and was admitted to the hospital.
Mary, who hasn't received a reply for a long time, fantasizes about various reasons to explain why Marx didn't reply. She was sad that she was not beautiful enough to lose her friend Marx. In the end, she burned all her letters.
Eight months after his return, Marx missed Mary very much when he came home from the hospital, but he was afraid of being hospitalized again. With the help of a psychologist, she explained her situation to Mary and agreed to take medicine whenever she felt unwell. Then their letters got closer and closer, pouring out their ups and downs. Sharing their interests and favorite snacks, they gave each other their favorite chocolates and condensed milk.
When she grew up, Mary had an operation to remove the birthmark, became beautiful and confident, and had her own family.
Life became smooth sailing, but their friendship was in crisis. She talked about Marx as the research object of autism, and published a book about it.
She thought it was out of love for her old friend, but her behavior angered Marx. Marx never thought that autism was a disease, and he liked himself like this.
So angry Marx broke the parts on the typewriter and sent them to Mary, telling her never to write to her again!
Mary, who was deeply hurt and miserable, ruined her efforts with tears. Since then, she has become self-destructive and decadent, and her husband has left her because of her depression.
After a long time, the two had no contact. Finally, Marx finally realized how stupid he was to do things that hurt his friends. He was kind-hearted and finally forgave Mary and gave her all his favorite collections in his life. Just when Mary was completely disappointed with her life and prepared to commit suicide, Mary received a package from Marx.
At the end of the film, when Mary gently pushed open Marx's door with her children and walked into his room, Marx had quietly left the world with a smile on his face.
Mary looked up, sad but surprised to find that every letter she wrote in the past few decades was ironed one by one by Max, and it was plastered all over the ceiling of the bedroom.
The classic lines of Mary and Max
When I received your book,
I have mixed feelings in my heart.
Just like in a tumble dryer.
They collided with each other.
I feel like I got hurt by accident.
Lips tight.
I forgive you because you are not perfect.
You are not perfect, and neither am I.
Everyone is not perfect.
Even those who litter outside my apartment.
When I was young.
If I think I can be anyone, I don't want to be myself.
Dr Bernard Hai Zi Hof said.
If I were on a desert island,
I must learn to live in peace with myself.
Just me and coconuts.
He said I had to accept myself.
Accept one by one without reservation
We can't choose our own shortcomings
They are a part of us.
We must get used to them.
But we can choose our friends.
I'm glad I chose you.
Dr Bernard Hai Zi Hof also said.
Everyone's life
Like a long sidewalk.
Some people's roads are paved smoothly.
The others are the same as mine.
Cracks everywhere, banana peels, cigarette butts.
Your sidewalk is similar to mine.
It's just that there may not be so many cracks
I hope that one day our sidewalks will meet.
We can share a can of condensed milk.
You are my best friend.
You are my only friend.
