First, the blood is flooding.
(7) 14-25- God struck the river with Aaron's staff, and the river turned into blood. The fish in it died and the river stinked, so the Egyptians could not drink the water in the river. This is the Nile, the god worshipped by the Egyptians, and it has been eclipsed since then. The river turned into blood, and the word blood was used as a metaphor in Joel's book (er 2: 31); But this is the actual situation here. Originally, the water of the Nile turns red every summer because of tiny animals and plants, which is harmless to people. However, a miracle happened here (poem 105 26-29), which killed the fish and made the river stink. Egyptians hated that they could not drink water. It was not until seven days later that the water source was dredged. This made Pharaoh realize the power of God, and the stubbornness and stupidity of human beings can never stop God from realizing his will (Phil. 2: 10, 1 1,Isa。 14: 24).
Second, the frog disaster
(Chronicles)-By Aaron, God stretched out his staff on the surface of rivers and made frogs come up, covering all the land of Egypt, and went into Pharaoh's palace, their bedrooms, beds and people. This is the most distressing thing for Egyptians, because they are so clean, just like priests who often shave their heads and wear fine linen clothes. According to ancient historians, they took cold baths twice during the day and twice at night. People can also take a bath. Pastors are always alert to all kinds of filth, so this kind of harassment makes them very disgusted. In addition, Egyptians used to regard frogs as symbols of the goddess in charge of fertility, so they didn't dare to kill frogs. However, in this disaster, God turned frogs into their disaster, which is another remarkable miracle (see Psalm 10527, 30), which shows that their frog god is illusory, making Pharaoh know the reality of God and believe in the power of prayer, so he had to humble himself temporarily and call on Moses and Aaron to call on God to drive away these frogs and allow people to sacrifice to the Lord in the wilderness. As a result, the frogs in the house, yard and field all died and the ground stinks. When Pharaoh saw that the disaster had disappeared, he refused to let the people go. This shows us that people often make wishes in foolish troubles, but when they get peace, they will be ungrateful and unwilling to make wishes. The weakness of human nature can be represented by old age.
Third, the lice disaster
(Old Testament)-Aaron's staff struck the dust on the ground and turned it into lice all over Egypt. The sorcerer also tried to produce lice by witchcraft, but he couldn't, so people and livestock had lice. Egyptians worship the earth as the mother of the gods, but God will perform miracles on the earth, strike dust and grow lice everywhere, which will make clean Egyptians more unbearable because of the plague of lice. The magician said to Pharaoh, "This is God's means", which means "This is God's finger". Obviously, they admit that what they do is only out of their own magic and can't compete with the power of God. This just means that God gave Pharaoh a little warning with his tiny authority (8: 19); But in the end, once God's greater authority and ability are displayed (15: 6, 12, 16), his greatest retribution will come to him.
Fourth, the fly disaster.
(8:20-32)- God sent swarms of flies into Pharaoh's palace and his servants' houses, and all the land of Egypt was ruined by these swarms of flies. According to hermeneutics, the word fly is a beetle-like animal in Hebrew. This insect is a symbol of the sun god, so it is as sacred as the frog. Although it is everywhere, it cannot be destroyed by extinction. This disaster is more serious than the previous disasters, because those flies or beetles pollute and destroy people's animal husbandry. Moses was called by the Pharaoh and prayed to God to let the swarms of flies leave him and his subjects with his eyes. But Pharaoh still refused to repent and refused to let the Israelites sacrifice to the Lord in the wilderness.
Verb (abbreviation for verb) Animal epidemic disaster
(9)1-7)-When the hand of the Lord God was laid on the livestock in the fields of Egypt, that is, horses, donkeys, camels, cattle and sheep, there was a great plague and almost all of them died. But the livestock of Israel were divided, and none of them died. It is true that Pharaoh sent someone to see it, but his heart is stubborn and he still won't allow the people to leave. However, it is obvious that the life and death of livestock are also in the hands of the Lord. Besides, we are all in the hands of God (Ps. 36: 6, Tai 10: 29, Tu 17: 28)? But Pharaoh didn't realize it. What a fool!
Six, bubble sore disaster
(9:8- 12)- God ordered Moses and Aaron to take a few handfuls of ashes and hold them in the sky before Pharaoh. Ashes turned into dust all over Egypt, attached to people and livestock, and became blistering sores. The magicians could not stand before Moses, because the disaster had come on them and all the Egyptians. This disaster is also a severe punishment from God, so that even the magicians can't stand it, and together they become prisoners on trial (see 2 Tim. 3: 8, 9). Egyptians sometimes hold the ashes of human sacrifices to the sky, saying that it is to eliminate disasters and solve problems. This time, however, Moses lifted the ashes into the sky, but it was designed to bring disaster to the Egyptians. Blisters are very painful, not only for Egyptians but also for livestock (9, 10, 1 1). But Pharaoh's heart is still hard, which is caused by God (12), and this is also to fulfill the prophecy of Chapter 4, 2 1 (refer to Volume 1, Question 39).
Seven, hail disaster
(9)13-35-God told Moses to stretch out his staff to the sky, and it thundered and hails. The fire flashed to the ground, and the hail was mixed with fire light, which was very severe. Since the founding of Egypt, there has never been such a disaster in the whole country. Hail struck all people, animals, vegetables and trees in the field, but there was no hail in Goshen where the Israelis lived (26, 8: 1 1, 94). This disaster is a special warning to Lao Wang (13- 19). This is the first deadly disaster among the top ten disasters in Egypt. Even all livestock will be killed, and all vegetables, trees and crops in the field will be destroyed, which is more serious than previous disasters. Although Pharaoh was shocked and admitted that the Lord was just and that he and his people were evil, he did not really repent in his heart and remained an enemy of God. When he asked Moses to pray to God to stop the disaster, he didn't keep his promise, but even more sinned. His servant also hardened his heart and refused to let the Israelites go.
Eight, locust plague
(10: 1-20)- Moses obeyed God's command and extended his staff to Egypt. God made the east wind blow to the ground and brought locusts.
Ten disasters of Moses _8_ locust plague (2 pieces)
It swept across Egypt, with unprecedented intensity, because locusts were everywhere, and even the ground was black, eating up all the vegetables and fruits left on the trees after the hail disaster. Pharaoh saw that the plague of locusts was more serious than before, so he quickly called Moses and Aaron. Admitting that you have sinned against God means that you have not obeyed God's command (16, September 27th), offended Moses and Aaron, and reneged many times (15, 28, 32, September 27th, 28th, 34th, 35th), and kicked Moses and Aaron out. Now he wants to ask their forgiveness and ask Moses to pray to God for him and save him from this death. At this time, although Moses agreed to Pharaoh's request, he asked God to eliminate this catastrophe. However, after the plague of locusts, his heart was still as hard as iron, and he did not allow the Israelites to leave (17-20).
Nine, dark disaster
(10:2 1-29)- Moses stretched out his staff to heaven according to God's command, and the whole land of Egypt was dark for three days. No one can meet each other, and no one dares to get up and leave this place, except for the light in Israel's house (23, 8: 22, 23, 94-7, 26). Egyptians used to worship the sun god. God made their land without light, and the darkness was so serious that their panic was bound to intensify, because the sun god they believed in also failed, and the disaster was dark for three days (cf. Mt. 22:45, Jude 13, Rev. 16: 10), which gave the Egyptians deep reflection. Pharaoh summoned Moses again at this time. This time, only the Israelites were allowed to serve the Lord, but they were not allowed to take away their cattle, sheep and livestock. Moses begged Pharaoh to give them these as sacrifices to God, but Pharaoh would not allow them. On the contrary, Moses was told to leave him and never see his face again, and threatened Moses with death. His refusal to see Moses again here is tantamount to completely rejecting the only way and hope for his salvation!
The eldest son disaster
(XI 1- 10, XII 29, 30)-God warned Pharaoh of the final disaster, that is, around midnight, he went out to inspect all the land of Egypt and killed all the firstborn animals. From the Pharaoh sitting on the throne to the handmaid after grinding, there would be a great wail throughout Egypt and every household would die. The eldest son is the representative of the family, and ancient people respected the eldest son the most (see 25 31); Therefore, the Egyptian people are particularly worried about this disaster. How did Pharaoh destroy Israel, God's eldest son and God's chosen one? Now god will also destroy Pharaoh's eldest son and his army (for example. 1:16, 22, 4: 22, 23,11:5,12: 29,14: 30). 6: 7). Although it reached such a serious level, Pharaoh's stubbornness became more and more serious, which prompted God to show justice among the Egyptians and show his mighty deeds, and finally achieved the goal of Israel leaving Egypt.
