What is data governance?

Data governance refers to a process from using scattered data to using unified master data, from little or no organization and process governance to comprehensive data governance within enterprises, from trying to deal with the chaotic situation of master data to keeping master data in order.

The whole process of data governance

In fact, data governance is a system, focusing on the implementation level of information systems. The purpose of this system is to integrate the knowledge and opinions of IT and business departments, and comprehensively supervise the informatization construction of enterprises through a virtual organization similar to the board of supervisors or the project team. This kind of organization is based on the authorization of the top management of the enterprise and the constructive cooperation between the business department and the IT department. From the scope, data governance covers data analysis from front-end transaction processing system, back-end business database to terminal, forming a closed-loop negative feedback system (stable system in cybernetics) from source to terminal and back to source. From the purpose, data governance is to supervise the acquisition, processing and use of data (supervision is our negative feedback on the information system at the implementation level), and the function of supervision is mainly guaranteed by implementing the following five aspects: discovery, supervision, control, communication and integration.
