1964, Xuchang No.6 Middle School began to be built on the oil refining wasteland of Xudu Minghe River, Caoyun River and the former transportation company. 1966 completed and enrolled students. Limited by the conditions at that time, the school buildings were crude and the teachers were scarce. The area is only 9 mu, there is no playground, and there are only more than 30 faculty members. Six years later, 1972, the standardized playground was built. 10 years later, 1977 reached the scale of 18 classes, including junior high school 12 classes and senior high school 6 classes, with more than 60 teachers, covering an area of more than 30 mu.

With the accelerated development of education in Xuchang, the development of No.6 Middle School has also entered the fast lane. With the support of the superiors, the first teaching building of 1986 rose from the ground, and then the original teaching building, office building and comprehensive building were built in 1988, 1993 and 2008 respectively, and the playground was transformed. Laboratory, computer room, language lab, library and other teaching auxiliary facilities have been improved, the number and quality of teachers have been greatly improved, and the teaching quality has been significantly improved. As a regional university in the southwest of Xuchang City, No.6 Middle School has trained a batch of students for this large area, virtually nourishing and upgrading the regional cultural level and becoming the educational core of this area.
