The Life of the Characters in Chen Wenxi's Works

Wenxi was born to love art and grew up in the countryside. Carefree childhood gave him more opportunities to explore and pursue many interesting and beautiful things, which gave birth to his love for painting. After graduating from high school, regardless of my uncle's objection, I decided to go to Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts to specialize in fine arts. Later, he transferred to Xinhua Academy of Fine Arts for some reason, and studied under Pan Tianshou and other famous teachers. Four years later, he returned to his hometown to get married, then taught art in Shantou Middle School and organized Chunyang Painting Society to teach young people interested in art.

Wen Xi showed his artistic talent when he was young, and held solo exhibitions in Shantou, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and other cities. The 2nd National Art Exhibition of China held in Nanjing from 65438 to 0937 was appreciated and praised by Xu Beihong. In the same year, he was listed as one of the top ten contemporary painters in China by British Studio magazine.

1948 I saw someone successfully holding an exhibition in Nanyang, and went all the way south to Nanyang. I planned to stay for three months, but I didn't expect to settle down. I teach in Huaqiao Middle School and Nanyang Art College, and travel around Southeast Asia every holiday to collect painting materials. Among them, the folk customs of Bali and Java inspired him.

Speaking of creation, he can be said to be a cautious painter. He gets up at 6 o'clock every day to paint, and every school holiday is a good opportunity for him to concentrate on painting. If you have entertainment, you will often leave early and go home to paint. Diligence and self-study make his painting skills constantly updated and improved.

As early as many years ago, Chen Wenxi laid his foundation in the international art world with his unique painting style of combining Chinese and Western styles. Among his many works, The Ape and the Crane is the masterpiece. In order to draw apes, he kept six apes in his garden and painted them day and night. Later, only by jumping, chasing and rolling, can he tell the origin of apes, while other picturesque fish and birds observe and paint day and night. His painting spirit is serious.

1968 devoted himself to creation after retiring from Singaporean education, and held more than 30 solo exhibitions in Chinese mainland, China, Taiwan Province Province, China, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, China and Hongkong.

1975, in order to praise his contribution to fine arts, the University of Singapore awarded him the honorary title of "honorary doctor", and was the first local painter to receive this honor. In addition, 1964 was awarded the Service Medal by Singaporean President Yusov, 1980 was awarded the Gold Medal of Taiwan History Museum, and 1987 was awarded the ASEAN Cultural Exchange Award.
