Zhang's Examination in Weixian County

According to genealogy and related documents, Zhang, the ancestor of Zhang in the east gate of Wei County, moved to Wei County from Zaoqiang, Hebei Province in the early Ming Dynasty. History cannot be tested before migration. So, where did the ancestors of the Zhang family first live in Weifang? When and why did our family move?

According to local records, Zhang is one of the forty-three branches of Zhang, named "East Gate", also known as "Chayuan Zhang". After Zhang's ancestors moved to wei county in the early Ming Dynasty, they first lived in tea gardens and then moved to other places, which has spread to the twenty-seventh generation.

Where is the tea garden?

The entry of Baidu Encyclopedia says: There are three members of Yushitai: Yushitai, Yushitai in the temple and Yushitai. The supervision of the empire belongs to the court. There is also the Duchayuan in the Ming Dynasty, referred to as Chayuan. Shi Yu is away on business, and his office is also called Tea Garden. Simply put, the tea garden is the palace.

According to local records, Tea Garden Street in Wei County is east-northeast of Xinjiezi, which was named after the establishment of Tea Garden Administrative Office in Ming Dynasty. The front street is about 230 meters long and 7 meters wide, the middle street is about 180 meters long and 3 meters wide, and the back street is about 80 meters long and less than 2 meters wide. Narrow and winding paths crisscross in the middle, and the width is less than 1.5 meters, commonly known as "wall cracks". Most residents in this street are poor migrant workers. It is located at the intersection of Heping Road and Dongjie Street today, which is the northeast corner of Caojiaxiang Community.

Let's talk about Cai Jiazhuang again. There is no record of Cai Jiazhuang in Wei County Annals published in Wanli, Qianlong and Guangxu years. After several references, I finally found the name of Cai Jia Xiaozhuang in the township table of the first district of wei county in Li Wenli period. As for Xiaozhuang, Cai Jia, only some information can be found in the relevant literature: in the middle of Qing Dynasty, it was a field of Cai surname, and tenants rented seeds here, so it was called Cai Jiazhuang, which is why there was no Cai surname in Cai Jiazhuang. When and where did that Zhang move here? No one in the village made it clear. Some people say it's from a tea garden, while others say it's from zhang jia zhuang. Zhang jia zhuang is located in the northeast corner of Weicheng, south of the western section of Gongbei Bridge and east of the northern end of Heping Road. In the early Qing Dynasty, Fan and Xiao rented a piece of land for farming in Chayuan Street in the city. In the middle of Qing Dynasty, Zhang moved from the city to live here, hence the name zhang jia zhuang.

Let's look for the answer from the genealogy again. August 20 15, the revision of Zhang's Genealogy in Dongmen, wei county was completed. After studying the genealogy, the nearest branch of Caijiacun lived in the tea garden until the 1970s and 1980s, while the branch of zhang jia zhuang was far away from ours. There is no doubt that our branch moved from Chayuan, probably in the middle and late 9th century/kloc-0. As for why, we don't know.

These are the clues found in ancient literature. Maybe in the future, we can find the truth in a few words from the literature library, or maybe the truth has long been lost in the dust of history and cannot be verified.
