Brown Mountain is also the birthplace of tea trees in the world. As early as 1960s, a wild tea forest was discovered in Badashan area of Menghai County, in which a "tea tree king" with a diameter of 1.03m and a plant height of 32. 12m has been growing for more than 700 years. This tea tree is flourishing so far, and the tea picked from it has been identified as pure in taste and excellent in texture.
In the contemporary Brown family, tea income is an indispensable economic source, and many years of tea planting practice have made the Brown family accumulate rich experience in making tea. They put the tender hair tips collected in April and May into a pot and fry them dry, then put them into a bamboo tube with a cover, sealed them tightly and baked them by the fireplace. When the bamboo tube skin is burnt, the fragrant and delicious bamboo tube tea is made. Women with brown skin are experts in making tea. They can not only make loose tea and baked tea, but also make a kind of sour tea for their own people. Take advantage of the hot and humid weather in May and June every year, boil the new tea, ferment it in the shade, put it in a bamboo tube and bury it in the soil, and take it out after three or four months. Brown people have the habit of chewing sour tea from old to young. It is said that it can quench thirst and help digestion.
Brown people are also very particular about tea. There are two ways to bake tea and make tea. Baking tea is to sprinkle tea leaves into a special teapot, put them on a fire pit and bake them together. When the tea leaves give off a plain nose fragrance, they are immediately injected with boiling water. Baked tea is rich and mellow, and it is the top grade for tea guests.
