There is a famous Huang's surrounding houses in Kengzi, which are distributed on the east and west sides of Kengzi Street. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the ancestor of Huang moved from Meixian to jiangbiancun, Pingshan. The second ancestor moved to Kengzi Laokeng Ancestral Temple Street and had three sons. The third ancestor still lives in Laokeng Ancestral Hall Street, with nine children, and later separated from Caoduiling and Duimenling.

The name "Kengzi" is related to the old pit. Laokeng got its name because it is surrounded by mountains on three sides and residents live in a big pit in the middle.

According to legend, the villagers in Kengzi Town and Shaliyuan were separated from the old ancestral hall in Laokeng Village, so they were called Kengzi in history, which means "descendants of Laokeng Village", and later generations changed Kengzi to Kengzi, which means Laokeng is the hometown.
