Where is the old airport in Guangzhou?

Guangzhou Old Airport generally refers to Guangzhou Old Baiyun International Airport, which is located on the west side of Baiyun Mountain in Baiyun District, Guangzhou. It was once one of the three major airports in China.

From 65438 to 0932, the old Baiyun Airport was a military airport, which was later converted into a civil airport. Old Baiyun Airport is located in the west of Baiyun Mountain, with runway 1 and terminal 1. Passengers leaving Hong Kong need to take the transit bus to board the plane, and passengers entering Hong Kong also need to take the transit bus to the terminal to leave Hong Kong.

After the reform and opening up, Guangzhou has developed rapidly, and so has Baiyun Airport. Passenger throughput and aircraft movements ranked first in China for eight consecutive years and became one of the three major airports in China. On August 5, 2004, Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport was opened and the old airport was officially closed.

Extended data:

Today, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, as one of the three major aviation hub airports in China, is an international hub airport along the Belt and Road, with two terminals and three runways. In 20 17, the passenger throughput exceeded 65 million, ranking 13 in the world. In particular, the T2 terminal, the largest single terminal in China, opened in April this year, which improved the overall passenger throughput design capacity of Baiyun Airport to 80 million passengers/year.

In addition, the old Baiyun Airport, built in 1930s, is one of the earliest civil aviation transport airports in China. According to historical records, Dashatou Airport was an amphibious airport at that time, located at Dashatou No.3 and No.4 Road, starting from Jiangyan East Road in the south and reaching Dashatou New Market in the north.

19 18 Sun Yat-sen ordered the construction of an airport in Dashatou. 1922 appointed Yang as the first director of the Aviation and Space Administration and the director of Guangdong Aircraft Factory. In March of the following year, Yang built Guangzhou's first aircraft "manufacturing base"-Guangdong Aircraft Factory near Dashatou Land and Water Airport.

Yang Huahui, the founder of Guangzhou Folk Protection Historic Building Complex "Ancient Yue Xiuse", told the reporter that the plane was named "Le Shiwen" 1. This name comes from the transliteration of the English name "ROSAMONDE" in Soong Ching Ling's "Youth", which also means "bright future". The successful development of "LeTV" is recognized as a milestone in the history of aircraft manufacturing in China.
