Judging from our existing teachers, well-educated English teachers are still very scarce. At present, there are nearly 500,000 vacant foreign language teachers in primary and secondary schools in China. Most of them have certain quality problems, and the pass rate is less than half. In the 2003 national unified selection and allocation examination for excellent foreign language teachers in primary and secondary schools organized by the Foreign Language Education Research Center of the National Basic Education Experimental Center, it was found that the number of English teachers who took the examination got high marks was very small; The test paper with a score of 150 can get almost zero above 100. This shows that the current foreign language teaching in primary and secondary schools in China is not only short of English teachers, but also worrying about their level.
Some new situations are worthy of attention. First, the employment demand is concentrated in key universities and graduate students, which makes it more difficult for graduates from some local universities to find jobs; Second, the downward shift of the "center of gravity" of college graduates is blocked, and some low-end jobs are occupied by laid-off workers, middle school graduates and migrant workers; Third, the employment rate of graduate students has a downward trend; Fourth, the number of graduates waiting for jobs has increased in recent years; Fifth, the effective social demand can't keep up with the rapid growth of college graduates, and some central cities in the east have introduced population restriction policies.
The structural contradiction of college graduates' employment still exists. From the regional perspective, the eastern provinces and cities have absorbed more than 50% of the country's college graduates, while the western region has less than 20%; From the perspective of disciplines, the employment situation of engineering and applied disciplines is good, and some liberal arts majors are difficult to find employment.
According to the analysis of Mr. Zeng, the director of human resources in an enterprise, the phenomenon of college students' employment difficulties will last at least 20 15 years. What we need to do is that the increasing employment pressure is oppressing our college students. Only before entering the society, we constantly replenish ourselves, recharge ourselves and arm ourselves with very strong knowledge and social experience can we be in an invincible position. I hope that the students and friends can realize this and understand the needs of society better.
With the continuous development of China's economy, the requirements of the whole society for college graduates are further expanded. In recent years, China's colleges and universities have expanded their enrollment on a large scale, and the employment market for college students has taken on a new form. In order to better understand the current employment mentality and provide better reference for the majority of students in job hunting, we specially organized the "Questionnaire Survey on College Students' Employment Prospects", which included freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Judging from the answers they chose, these 40 senior students and their brothers and sisters who just came out of campus to work mainly reflected several problems: 1 high position, 2 salary obstacles, 3 geographical choices, 4 above-average vision, 5 lack of clear opinions and clear goals.
For normal majors, we investigated the employment situation and national policies, and investigated the employment prospects and employment status of normal students.
Dozens of students we interviewed at random reflected the following questions: about their plans after graduation, about the boundaries of employment procedures, about their expectations for careers and new salaries, and about the work situation in the graduation village where they were employed:
First, the earth high position
Fresh graduates who have just left the campus are often attracted by the "sales manager" and "customer director" that many companies euphemistically call in recruitment. Some students are often bound by ideas: "I study management, I am a manager." How can we start from the grassroots? " This kind of thinking often limits its development in the enterprise. In fact, generally speaking, the employment of college graduates should also start from the foundation. In one or two years of work, show your talents and get the recognition of management before putting you in the position of love management. In fact, professional technicians engaged in management are often more effective. Everything should start from the foundation. If it is divorced from the process of enterprise operation, it will become superficial, which is very unfavorable for personal career growth. Second, pay barriers.
How much should the labor paid by college students be worth? In the survey, undergraduates generally set their salary requirements at 1000~ 1500 yuan. The situation of applying for a starting salary of more than 2000 yuan with previous fresh graduates no longer exists at the job fair. However, students in school generally require 1500~3000 yuan. In fact, even the best graduates can be transformed into excellent employees in a short time. Mentality is not right. It is a common problem for graduates to be whimsical and even have serious childhood diseases.
A young man who has just graduated and entered the society should treat his work with a learning attitude. His major is good, but you are always inexperienced. It is wrong to look down on the probation period, and it is not your disadvantage to use it during the period. It is the salary training given to you by the company. Even after systematic training, it is at the expense of service quality. For those students who are looking for a job, facing a one-month probation period, 800 yuan will become a full member 1000 yuan, and they will have to pay at least the necessary expenses such as shared housing, meals, transportation, communication, utilities and so on in 700 yuan every month. It's hard to live with a little salary, so you can only accept it. There are too many graduation voices, and the employment pressure is great. Survival comes first when you leave school. What lofty aspirations, professional counterparts, and development prospects are not considered for the time being. In recent years, many college students have accepted jobs with low salary, no social security and no contract. For this reason, many college students say frankly: "It is useless to study in order to exhaust parents' hard-earned money for decades. "The popularity of low salaries not only makes it difficult for us to find self-confidence, but also makes more enterprises fall into the misunderstanding of applying for jobs, and the waste of talents forms a vicious circle.
Third, choose the region.
Grassroots employment prospects are broad. From a realistic point of view, going to the grass-roots level for employment is undoubtedly a way out for college students. However, it is found in the survey that although the employment form is very severe, college students are still more willing to lock their employment targets in cities. According to online statistics, in April 2006, college students in the whole province volunteered to serve the west, and 303 places attracted 1 0,000 college students to register, with an admission ratio of 3: 1. Although this figure is quite a lot, it is still far from the proportion of civil servant recruitment in 2007, which was just launched on March 3 1. According to statistics, the recruitment quota of 1680 in provincial institutions attracted 230,000 candidates, and the proportion of some popular positions even reached 70: 1.
Some students said that after studying hard for more than ten years, I finally came to the provincial capital. If you want to go back to the county and feel wronged, go to the countryside, where you are a stranger. It is too difficult to do something in the countryside. They don't even know what to do there, and they don't want to stay in the countryside all their lives. After all, after studying for so many years, they may be more successful in urban development. Some people say; If you have the opportunity to be a cadre in the community or go to more than half of the village officials in rural areas, you are willing to give it a try. If it's a general clerical position, you're not interested. Dreams are also a big problem in cities.
Fourth, low thinking and lack of work efficiency.
A student majoring in art design, four years undergraduate, asked for a salary increase in 600 yuan within a few days of internship. The boss asked why, and he said there was not enough money. However, in one month, his five creative works were not adopted by customers, while the works of a technical secondary school graduate who worked for two years at the same time were all adopted by customers.
What is the purpose of employing people in enterprises? Is to create value for yourself. Everything we can't do should meet the requirements and standards of the enterprise, instead of satisfying our own wishes first. A person who pursues promotion and salary increase does not consider performance. The boss appreciates people who do things in place, muddle through everything and never try to do their job well, so they will never reach the peak of success.
5. Lack of independent opinions and clear employment goals.
The accuracy of choosing a job for the first time is very small. From the school's point of view, although there are employment guidance services in colleges and universities, there are relatively few "good" opportunities for graduates because the school does not provide enough guidance for students to get in touch with society and there is no good employment bridge. When entering the workplace for the first time, college students should understand that the starting point is always "zero". Plan your career reasonably and truly understand what you can and want to do. Good growth strategies can help graduates accumulate growth strength step by step and achieve their life goals.
As students majoring in normal university, there are two possibilities for our future employment: being a teacher and not being a teacher. At present, with the adjustment of China's education policy, a large number of private schools and vocational schools have sprung up. This increases the employment opportunities of normal students. From the implementation of the national policy of free normal students, it can be seen that there is a great demand for normal talents in the central and western regions, and many non-normal majors are also increasing year by year. For other college graduates, the employment situation of normal college graduates has always been good. As a result, some normal college graduates have a weak sense of taking the initiative to choose jobs, lack a sense of crisis, have outdated employment concepts, and are keen on big cities and developed areas with good conditions, high income and comfortable working environment. This concept of employment needs to be changed, and more attention should be paid to small and medium-sized cities and central and western regions, where they can show their elegance and realize the value of life.
In the face of non-normal students, you can obtain a teacher qualification certificate, although the competitiveness is not necessarily stronger than that of normal graduates. With their professional background, normal college graduates have made clear plans and goals for their four-year training and unexplored career, laying a solid foundation. In addition, the premise of "employment first, then career choice" should be that college graduates have a comprehensive and objective understanding of their academic level, personality characteristics, interpersonal communication and other aspects, and have a scientific and long-term career choice.
Non-normal majors in normal universities exceed normal majors in number and scale. At present, the teacher training bases in Beijing, such as the First Normal School, only account for 44% of the teacher profession. Training all kinds of qualified talents is also the training goal of normal universities. Students generally have three choices in normal colleges:
(1) Becoming a teacher after graduation: Generally, in the third grade, these students receive training in educational disciplines, take elective courses such as pedagogy, psychology and teacher skills, and enter teaching practice. The credits of these courses are the necessary conditions for obtaining the teacher qualification certificate, so it is easy to apply for the teacher qualification certificate. But even students who choose normal education can still choose improper teachers after graduation.
(2) Not being a teacher after graduation;
Students who want to engage in other occupations may not take these courses or engage in other vocational practice. When you are hired, you are free to choose your occupation. Instead of choosing teaching courses, I want to graduate as a teacher: these students can hold by-elections for these courses in the last semester, apply for teacher qualification certificates, and still have teacher qualifications.
Although the teacher qualification certificate system is implemented in many places, students in normal universities still maintain their employment advantages. It is understood that the employment rate of Beijing Normal University is 95.47%, the employment rate of teachers in the first normal university is over 95%, and the primary education major is as high as 100%. According to experts' analysis, a large number of private schools and vocational schools have sprung up in recent years, which has broadened the employment market for students in normal universities. Therefore, the employment prospects of normal students who want to be teachers are still relatively optimistic.
After China's entry into WTO, international trade has increased, and more and more e-commerce needs high-quality talents who can master foreign languages. A few years ago, the standard of level 4 has now been changed to level 6. Many employers require to fill in resumes or talk in English. Foreign language graduates who know foreign languages and have other skills are more popular, which undoubtedly puts forward higher requirements and broader space for foreign language graduates. The demand of foreign-funded enterprises for foreign language graduates is growing steadily, but the requirements are also higher, especially those who are familiar with Chinese and foreign cultures and master applied technologies such as finance, law, computer and communication, which require the foreign language major to change from "single type" to "compound type". According to our investigation and analysis of the flow of graduates from foreign language colleges, the main employment channels for graduates from foreign language colleges are state organs and their subordinate units, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Ministry of National Security and other central ministries and commissions, as well as companies affiliated to various ministries or press and publication organizations (such as China Radio International and Xinhua News Agency), library and information institutions, and foreign affairs agencies in various provinces and cities. In addition, state-owned enterprises also have certain needs. Foreign language college graduates can generally play a role in the following units and departments:
1, college students;
2. Primary and secondary school teachers and administrators;
3. Translators and managers of foreign-funded enterprises;
4. Translators and managers of Sino-foreign joint ventures;
5. Translators and managers of export enterprises;
6. Translators, managers and marketers of foreign trade enterprises;
7. Translator, tour guide and manager of travel company;
8. Translation, management and marketing personnel of foreign-related hotels and restaurants;
9. Relevant personnel working in government agencies, foreign affairs, finance and insurance, consulting services and other units.
