Nanjing University set up a bomber flight brigade, headed by Du -2 bomber, with Liu Shanben as deputy brigade commander and Li Shian as political commissar.
A fighter regiment was formed in Jiangwan, Shanghai. The model is mainly La -9, headed by Xia Boxing and political commissar Gao.
After that, a fighter regiment was formed in Xuzhou, with the main aircraft type La-1 1, the head Wang Zhiyi and the political commissar Zhang Bochuan.
When these three flying regiments were formed, some flew in from the northeast, and the other were Kuomintang planes captured by the East China Field Army. The fighter regiment has three brigades, each with twelve planes and each squadron with four planes.
The bomber regiment also has three brigades, each with nine planes and each squadron with three planes.
At that time, leaders at or above the regimental level were comrades who had been trained by our party for a long time and had rich flying experience. Comrade Liu Shanben, the deputy brigade commander, was originally a Kuomintang insurgent, and made contributions to the establishment of the old aviation school in Northeast China after the uprising. Wang Zhiyi is a pilot of our party's aviation team in Xinjiang. Many of the backbones at the level of battalion commander and squadron leader were transferred from the old aviation school in Northeast China.
In order to help China establish the People's Air Force, the Soviet Union also sent a group of experts to Nanjing to guide the training, and a group of teachers were scattered in three regiments of the mixed aviation brigade.
