What are the basic characteristics of a new democratic society?

All the results of China's new-democratic revolution are: on the one hand, there is the development of capitalist factors, on the other hand, there is the development of socialist factors. The new democratic society established on this basis naturally has both capitalist and socialist factors, but the socialist factor is in a dominant position and plays a decisive role in economy, politics and culture. The continuous enhancement and expansion of these socialist factors inherently stipulates that the new democratic society will inevitably transform into a socialist society after meeting certain conditions. Therefore, the new democratic society is not an independent social form, but a transitional society, which belongs to the socialist system and will gradually transition to the socialist society. It is an indispensable intermediary and bridge in the historical process of modern China from a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society to a socialist society. This transitional new democratic society has its economic, political and cultural characteristics.

First, economically, due to the implementation of the three major economic programs of new democracy, the land ownership of the feudal landlord class was completely destroyed, bureaucratic capital was confiscated by countries under the people's democratic dictatorship, and the economic structure of semi-colonial and semi-feudal society changed fundamentally, forming a new economic structure of new democratic society, namely, the state-owned economy and its cooperative economy, individual economy, private capitalist economy and state capitalist economy under its leadership.

Second, the new democratic countries politically practice the people's democratic dictatorship led by the working class, based on the alliance of workers and peasants and the joint dictatorship of all revolutionary classes. The leadership of the working class and the alliance of workers and peasants are the socialist factors in the new democratic society and politics, and the political guarantee for the transformation of the new democratic society into a socialist society. At the same time, under the condition of new democracy, the national bourgeoisie still exists as a class, and the national bourgeoisie and its representatives participate in the management of the country like the working class and other working people.

Thirdly, culturally, the new-democratic countries practice the new-democratic culture under the guidance of Marxism, that is, the national, scientific and popular culture. The guidance of Marxism is the socialist factor in the new-democratic culture, which stipulates the direction of the new-democratic culture. At the same time, under the condition of new democracy, all kinds of non-proletarian thoughts not only exist in large numbers, but also continue to influence the broad masses, which is a non-socialist factor in the social and cultural aspects of new democracy.

In a word, since the new democratic society is a transitional society, there are naturally both socialist and capitalist factors in economy, politics and culture. These two factors constantly collide, conflict and compete, and the general trend of their development is that the socialist factor is getting stronger and stronger, and the capitalist factor is constantly weakened and restricted. Finally, after the conditions are met, the new democratic society will transition to a socialist society.
